French ambassador: CIIE signals China's further opening up Release date: 2021-06-01    Source:Multiple

The China International Import Expo (CIIE), an annual trade fair held every November in Shanghai since 2018, shows the nation is intensifying its efforts to open up domestic market for high-quality and green products, which greatly benefits companies from France, as well as other countries, said Laurent Bili, the French ambassador to China.

France is an important trading partner of China and also an active participant in the CIIE. More than 100 French companies were involved in the third edition of the expo or related activities that took place last November. France was also a guest of honor at the 2nd CIIE in 2019.

French participants have had a good impression of the past two editions of the CIIE as their products have gained access to China's markets through the event, said Bili.

He added that a variety of French goods like cosmetics and wine are popular among Chinese consumers. French enterprises are also seeking development in sectors that they have an edge in, such as aviation and nuclear energy. In addition, China and France have great potential for cooperation in sustainable development, energy transformation, as well as smart cities.

France also sees bright prospects in China's consumption upgrade because French-made products have a reputation for high quality and security, Bili added.

The vibrant consumer market and business-friendly environment in China bring enormous benefits to international companies, said Bili. He added that he hoped China will further improve its market environment and encourage fair competition.

The CIIE sends a strong message that China will continue to open up further. It plays a significant role in China's rapid economic development, he concluded.
