Gong Zheng, mayor of Shanghai, welcomed Inditex to attend the fifth China International Import Expo this November in Shanghai during a video conference with the company's executives on Feb 21.

Headquartered in Spain, Inditex is one of the world's biggest fast fashion groups.

Gong said that he hopes Inditex could further upgrade its businesses in Shanghai and engage in the city's efforts to become an international consumption hub.

Shanghai has been making efforts to expand high-level opening up and is aiming to become one of the top destinations for multinational companies to increase their global presence. It will continue to establish a first-class business environment and provide specialized services for local enterprises, added Gong.

Pablo Isla, president of Inditex, and Oscar Garcia, the CEO, said that their company is committed to introducing more fashion products to China, generating more value beyond profits, and working to protect the environment and promote Chinese culture. The company is also looking to work with local partners in more fields in the future.

Inditex has 12 companies and an Asia-Pacific regional headquarters in Shanghai. It participated in the third and fourth editions of the CIIE in 2020 and 2021.
