Chen Jining, Party secretary of Shanghai, welcomed more British enterprises to participate in the sixth China International Import Expo during his meeting with Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, chair of the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), on May 19.

Chen said that China's modernization and the urban transformation of Shanghai have provided new opportunities for global businesses to tap the Chinese market and invest in the city.

He added that Shanghai will continue to improve its business environment to provide better services for global enterprises in Shanghai and hopes that the CBBC will continue to support more leading and high-growth enterprises to invest and develop in the city. 

Cowper-Coles said that the CBBC will help more British enterprises actively participate in the sixth CIIE to seize opportunities and achieve win-win cooperation.

He noted that Shanghai is the preferred destination for global businesses entering the Chinese market and that he is confident of the future development of China and Shanghai.
