Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng welcomed Inditex, a Spanish multinational clothing company, to debut more high-quality products and distinctive brands in Shanghai through the China International Import Expo during his meeting with Óscar García Maceiras, chief executive officer of Inditex, on Aug 21.

Many brands under Inditex have proved popular among Chinese consumers, said Gong. He added that he welcomes the company to increase its investment in Shanghai and deepen cooperation with its Chinese partners.

According to Gong, more than 90 percent of world-renowned high-end brands do business in Shanghai. The city is also the first stop of international brands seeking to enter the Chinese market.

García said that China as well as Shanghai serve as important strategic markets for Inditex. The company will bring its high-quality products to Chinese consumers and expand its operation in Shanghai to contribute to the city's efforts in becoming an international consumption center, he added.

Inditex has 11 companies as well as its Asia-Pacific headquarters located in Shanghai.
