Chen Jining, Party secretary of Shanghai, met with Dame Emma Walmsley, chief executive officer of biopharmaceutical company GSK on March 21, which has signed up to participate in the 7th China International Import Expo this November.

Chen said that Shanghai prioritizes biopharmaceuticals as one of its three key leading industries and supports the innovation and development of biopharmaceutical technology.

Acknowledging GSK's status as a global leader in the biopharmaceutical industry, Chen welcomed GSK to invest in Shanghai and conduct more global-oriented innovative research, production operations, and service management activities in the city.

Walmsley introduced the company's core business, its development trajectory in China, and its plans for the upcoming 7th CIIE.

She said that GSK is steadfast in its commitment to developing in China, especially in Shanghai. According to her, the company will collaborate with Chinese partners to engage in more innovative research and clinical cooperation on a global scale.
