Gong Zheng, mayor of Shanghai, said he hopes Nestle will continue leveraging the China International Import Expo to introduce more new products, technologies, and services to China during his meeting with Mark Schneider, chief executive officer of the Swiss-based food and beverage company, on March 21.

Gong said he welcomes deeper collaboration between Nestle and local enterprises in Shanghai to support the development of Shanghai into an international consumption center. He encouraged the company to expand digital consumption scenarios and introduce more first stores in the city.

Schneider said that Nestle attaches high importance to the Chinese market. The company's coffee research and development center in Shanghai will help it better understand consumption trends in the Chinese market and provide better products.

Nestle is the world's largest food and beverage company, ranking 106th on the 2023 Fortune Global 500 list. The company has established 18 subsidiaries in Shanghai.
