A promotional event for the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held in Peru from March 27 to 28, attracting key organizations and businesses, including the Presidency of the Congress of the Republic of Peru, the Peru Exporters Association (ADEX), Warmpaca, and Industrias Alimenticias Cusco S.A.
During the event, the CIIE working team underscored Peru's proactive engagement in the CIIE since its launch in 2018. Through this expo, Peruvian agricultural and food products, handicrafts, tourism services, and investment opportunities have enhanced their visibility in the Chinese market. The working team extended an invitation to additional Peruvian enterprises to participate in the 8th CIIE, encouraging them to broaden their exhibition presence and investigate new business prospects.
Yao Ming, counselor at the Chinese embassy in Peru, attended the event and highlighted the CIIE as a valuable platform for Peruvian companies to showcase their competitive products and strengthen exports to China, including agricultural goods, seafood, and alpaca products. He also assured the embassy would continue offering visa facilitation and communication support to enhance bilateral trade.
According to Yao, in 2024, China continues to be Peru's largest trading partner, however, Peruvian exports account for only approximately 1 percent of China's annual imports. He emphasized the considerable potential for growth in this relationship, particularly in the sectors of high-quality agricultural and processed products.
In addition, a supplementary agreement was also signed with Warmpaca to expand its exhibition space at the expo. Industrias Alimenticias Cusco S.A. confirmed its participation in this year's CIIE, expressing confidence in expanding its presence, just as Warmpaca has done. Other businesses, including Quality Supplier Foods, also expressed interest in entering the Chinese market through the expo.

The Peruvian government and ADEX reaffirmed their strong support for the expo and pledged to encourage more Peruvian enterprises to participate.
