On July 3, a buyer recruitment roadshow for the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Present at the event were representatives from 28 exhibitors, including Siemens Heahineers, Boston Scientific, Organon, BWT, IQAir, Multipure, Goodfarmer, Joy Wing Mau, Secco, Standard Chartered, DHL, PwC, and EGO; as well as over 200 local buyers, establishing ties and laying foundation for future cooperation.

Ge Hong, deputy director-general of the CIIE Bureau, said that the 8th CIIE will be held during Nov 5 to 10 at the National Exhibition & Convention Center (NECC) (Shanghai) and preparations thus far have gone smoothly. For the Corporate Pavilion, the structure of the exhibitions areas and special sections will be improved to encompass more themes and enriched content. More professional buyers will be invited to participate in various matching sessions before and during the expo to facilitate transactions that can benefit all parties. In addition, the CIIE Bureau has started to accept applications for side events. Activities themed on food, quality products, and arts will also be organized to enhance cultural exchanges during the expo.

Chen Youqing, deputy director-general of Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, emphasized that Sichuan, with a vast market and high economic resilience, is bound to have higher demand for international trade and investment, which means broad space for cooperation for CIIE exhibitors, buyers, and investors. Liu Yong, deputy general manager of ICBC Sichuan Branch, said that the bank will continue to provide dedicated service packages for CIIE participants and highly efficient settlement and financing services for imports.

During the roadshow, the CIIE Bureau signed memorandums of cooperation with VIP buyers such as Chengdu International Trade Group Co Ltd, Sichuan hcowa company, Zhongyuan Lianchuang International Trading (Group) Co Ltd, Yuhu Cold Chain, and Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College.

At the event, participants were briefed on services measures for professional visitors and the highlights of the Corporate Pavilion, and all were invited to the CIIE. In addition, an official from China Eastern Airlines introduced travel services for the CIIE.

The roadshow was hosted by the CIIE Bureau, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, ICBC Sichuan Branch, and NECC (Shanghai).

After the roadshow, participants visited Chengdu Wenjiang Hi-tech Park to learn about the status quo and business environment of the park and had exchanges with park authorities and relevant enterprises to explore cooperation opportunities.
