The special committee for medical equipment of the China International Import Expo Exhibitor Alliance held a meeting in Shanghai on Jan 10 to announce the start of efforts to attract exhibitors for the innovation incubation subsection at the Medical Equipment and Healthcare Products exhibition area of the fifth CIIE, which will take place this November.

Deng Jianmin, global senior vice-president of BD, a global medical company that is the current president of the special committee, said his company has reaped benefits from the CIIE and that it will leverage its own strengths and work with other partners to bring more cutting-edge medical technologies and innovations to China.

More than 10 medical investment groups and innovation incubators like Popular Kind, Mavie International Ltd, Hillhouse Capital Group, and Grandpharma, as well as more than 10 members and partners of the special committee, such as Medtronic, Johnson & Johnson, and GE Healthcare, attended the meeting.

Launched at the fourth CIIE in 2021, the innovation incubation subsection attracted 29 companies from the United States, Germany, Israel, and five other countries last year. More than 30 innovative products and technologies were showcased, and some of them, such as a portable peritoneal dialysis machine, have enjoyed expedited entry into the Chinese market.

The CIIE will continue to build platforms such as the subsection to help excellent overseas innovative companies grasp opportunities in China’s market and facilitate the transformation of domestic industries, said Ma Fengmin, financial director of the CIIE Bureau.

Preparations for the fifth CIIE are currently well underway, added Ma.
