At the conference, Kong Xianhua, Chinese consul-general in Mumbai, expressed the hope that Indian business communities will make good use of the CIIE, which is a major platform for Indian companies to enter the Chinese market.

He noted that China is one of India's most important trade partners, with bilateral trade reaching a record high of over $136 billion last year.

Kong Fuan, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, said that Shanghai, a sister city of Mumbai, will continue to promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two cities.

Ma Fengmin, financial director of the CIIE Bureau, stated at the conference that over the last five editions of the CIIE, the exhibition area that Indian enterprises occupied measured nearly 3,000 square meters. Indian spices, cashmere carpets, and handicrafts that were showcased at previous expos attracted the attention of many Chinese consumers.

During the conference, staff members of the CIIE Bureau introduced the highlights and features of several exhibition areas of this year’s expo.
