6th CIIE Call for Entries: Photography/Video Competition Series Activities Launched Release date: 2023-11-06    Source:China International Import Expo Bureau

On November 5, the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE) was grandly opened. After six consecutive sessions of CIIE, "November" has become a noteworthy "CIIE moment" that captures the world's attention. Inside and outside Shanghai, the thick ambience of CIIE seems to echo with the gorgeous autumn view of clear air and blooming flowers, extending open arms to the whole world—enthusiastic, free, and confident, welcoming and looking forward to meeting and cooperating with friends from all over the world.

Openness is an essential driver for the progress of human civilization and an indispensable path to world prosperity and development. As the world's first import-themed national expo, the CIIE has been successfully held for six sessions and achieved remarkable results. Currently, it has become a window for China to build a new development pattern, a platform to promote high-standard opening up, and an international public product to be shared globally.

Now, there is an even more unique way to do so....We sincerely invite you to participate in the Call for Entries: Photography/Video Competition of the 6th CIIE, record the unforgettable moments with your camera, showcase the splendor of "opening-up, cooperation, innovation, and win-win", and demonstrate the style of a great nation. These records, as our common memories of the CIIE, will become a vivid chapter of the remarkable journey of opening up and development.

II. Activity Theme  

Win-Win Cooperation, Shared Vision
The content of entries can be the venues, booths, and exhibits of the CIIE, or the exhibitors, professional visitors, volunteers, and service providers; it can be the CIIE atmosphere in Shanghai, or the enthusiasm of exhibitors from all over the world; it can be a record of a wonderful moment at the CIIE, or a vivid story...All photographs and video clips that record and show the wonderful scene of the 6th CIIE are eligible for submission.

III. Participation Rules 

(I) Photographs

1. In this competition, the photographs solicited will be divided into two zones: Public Photo Zone and Media Photo Zone. The Public Photo Zone is open to the public and the Media Photo Zone is open to all media journalists/reporters. The same work can only be submitted to one category; if it is submitted to both categories, it will be deemed as an entry of the Public Photo Zone for selection.

2. Contributors shall register as a Tuchong.com user and enter the exclusive event page to submit their works.

3. Each entry must include a description of the work, with 100 words or less.

4. The copyright of the works belongs to the participant. The participant shall own the independent, complete, clear, and undisputed copyright of his/her works. The participant shall also guarantee that his/her works do not violate any rights of third parties, including copyrights, portrait rights, honorary rights, and privacy rights. Participants are deemed to have agreed to the aforesaid terms and conditions. Any disputes arising from the failure of the aforesaid guarantees shall be the responsibility of the participant, independent of the platform and the organizer of the competition.

Submission Method:

Go to the Competition Page - Click "I want to participate" - Select [Public Photo Zone] or [Media Photo Zone] - Upload the works- Enter the information of the works (for the Public Photo Zone, please make sure to enter the information of the journalist/reporter and the media) - Confirm the submission.

Method I: Visit https://tuchong.com/events/1609300/ on your computer and enter the competition page to register and submit;

Method II: Scan the QR code below on your cell phone, download/open the Tuchong APP, and enter the competition page to register and submit.

Special Reminder: For Media Photo Zone, only a media journalist/reporter can submit works. The name of the contributor and the name of the media outlet must be indicated in the description of the submitted photo. If the identity of the media journalist/reporter cannot be verified due to missing information, the submission will be deemed invalid.

(II) Video Clips

1. The length of the submitted works is recommended to be limited to 10-60 seconds, with the maximum length not exceeding 3 minutes. It is encouraged to create video clips with shorter content for easier dissemination.

2. It is recommended to use a vertical screen, at an aspect ratio of 9:16 in principle, pixel 720*1280 or above, in MPG, MOV, MP4, or other formats.

3. Subtitles, if any, must be in Simplified Chinese or English.

4. No commercial advertisements shall be inserted.

5. Both published and unpublished works are eligible to participate in the competition, and they must not violate national laws, regulations and related provisions. Entries must be original and must not infringe on the copyright, portrait rights and other legitimate rights and interests of others; otherwise, it shall be immediately disqualified, and the participant shall bear the legal responsibility arising therefrom. The entries will not be returned. The copyright of the entries is protected by the Chinese law. The organizer shall have the right to provide the works to the media for publication, exhibition, network promotion, and other non-commercial use.

Submission Method:

Method I: Directly post a themed video clip to participate, i.e., log on to the official website https://www.douyin.com on your computer or Douyin APP on your cell phone, add the hashtag #MagicCIIE, and post the relevant themed video clip.

Method II: Participate in the competition through topic search, i.e., open the Douyin App, search for the keyword "Magic CIIE", or scan the Douyin QR Code below through the Douyin App, and then click the "Participate" button at the bottom of the topic page to post a video clip.

Method III: If you have already posted related works on Douyin, you can add the hashtag #MagicCIIE to categorize the content of your works. Log on to https://www.douyin.com on your computer. In "Video Management", select "Modify Video Description", "Add Topic", and enter "Magic CIIE" to participate in the competition.

IV. Awards

Public Photo Zone

First First Prize: 2 entries, each with a prize of RMB 5,000 (before tax) and a certificate. Second Prize: 5 entries, each with a prize of RMB 3,000 (before tax) and a certificate. Third Prize: 10 entries, each with a prize of RMB 1,000 (before tax) and a certificate.
Media Photo Zone
First Prize: 2 entries, each with a prize of RMB 8,000 (before tax) and a certificate. Second Prize: 5 entries, each with a prize of RMB 5,000 (before tax) and a certificate. Third Prize: 10 entries, each with a prize of RMB 2,000 (before tax) and a certificate.
Video Clip Zone
First Prize: 2 entries, each with a prize of RMB 6,000 (before tax) and a certificate. Second Prize: 5 entries, each with a prize of RMB 4,000 (before tax) and a certificate. Third Prize: 10 entries, each with a prize of RMB 2,000 (before tax) and a certificate.

V. Selection and Announcement

At the end of the submission period, the winning entries will be selected through a comprehensive evaluation by experts and the public online.

Important Notes

1. Contributions must be original, indicating the title of the photo/video, description and other information; submissions can be subject to appropriate post-processing.

2. There is no limitation on the equipment used or the brand of the equipment used.

3. There is no limitation on the color (color, black, and white digital photos) of works or equipment used (cell phones, SLR cameras, or other models). No watermark signature should be added, otherwise, it will be regarded as invalid.

4. Aerial photography, long exposure, panorama, and other creative ways are encouraged.

5. Contributors are required to keep the original files of their works; winners are required to provide the original files to prove the original creators. The event organizer shall not be responsible for any disputes caused by a lack of documents.

6. The hosts, organizers, and partners shall have the right to use the works for publicity and display during the period of the competition by means of information network dissemination without payment of remuneration. The works used for publicity and display during the period of the call for entries do not represent the final selection results. The hosts include the host company, its affiliates, and strategic partners.

7. The hosts will screen some of the best works as material, make a photo book and publish, all the selected works of authors are entitled to the right of authorship of the relevant works. All entries, from the date of submission, will be deemed to authorize the event hosts, organizers, special support units to have the right to use and sublicense without compensation, including, but not limited to, the right to use them for the activities related to the CIIE, to carry out thematic exhibitions (displays), to broadcast, to collect and publish, to distribute or to reproduce, publicize, promote and display them through online and offline platforms, such as websites, albums, and the right not to pay additional fees.

8. Contributors shall read the contents of this announcement carefully before submitting their works. By submitting their works for the competition, they are deemed to fully understand and accept all the contents of this announcement. The hosts reserve the right to disqualify the participant from participating in the competition at any time if the participant violates the contents of this announcement and shall have the right to change the evaluation and recover the award.

9. The final right of interpretation of this competition belongs to the hosts within the limits of the law.
