HQF Warming-Up丨Global Dialogue on New Energy Storage&Transition Release date: 2025-10-29    Source:China International Import Expo Bureau

The Parallel Session on "High-quality Development of New Types of Energy Storage Accelerates Global Energy Transition" under the 8th Hongqiao International Economic Forum will be grandly held on the afternoon of November 5, 2025, at Hall 4.2 of the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). The parallel session is jointly hosted by the National Energy Administration and the Ministry of Commerce, and co-organized by the Institutes of Science and Development of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASISD), the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, The Paper, and the China Energy Storage Alliance (CNESA).

At present, the global energy mix is undergoing profound transformation. As a key enabling technology, new energy storage has become a vital driving force for advancing the energy revolution and addressing climate change. According to data from the National Energy Administration, as of the end of June 2025, China's cumulative installed capacity of new energy storage reached 94.91 million kW / 222 million kWh, accounting for over 40% of the global total, representing a 30-fold increase compared with the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period, and ranking first in the world. New energy storage is playing an increasingly critical role in supporting peak regulation and stabilizing power supply within the electricity system.

China has become a key engine driving the development of new energy storage worldwide. The country now boasts the most complete, largest, and most advanced industrial chain in the global energy storage sector, with the "China Solution" accelerating its expansion to the international stage. Moreover, as the world's largest energy storage application market, China is actively attracting global technologies, capital, and talent, deepening international cooperation in R&D, mutual recognition of standards, and industrial chain coordination, thereby jointly cultivating new quality productive forces and propelling the global energy transition to new heights.

Against this backdrop, the Parallel Session on "High-quality Development of New Types of Energy Storage Accelerates Global Energy Transition" will bring together distinguished representatives from government, industry, academia, research institutions, and finance to build a global high-end energy storage ecosystem. Participants will explore major topics such as technological breakthroughs, innovative business models, policy incentive mechanisms, and domestic and international industrial cooperation, sharing experience and contributing collective wisdom to the world.

Leaders from the National Energy Administration and the Ministry of Commerce, as well as invited international guests, will attend and deliver remarks. Representatives from State Grid Corporation of China, China Southern Power Grid, and State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC), along with energy authorities from key provinces such as Shandong, experts from Tsinghua University and the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, executives from leading energy storage enterprises such as HyperStrong and EVE Energy, and numerous other influential figures in the energy storage ecosystem, will join the parallel session as speakers to exchange ideas and share insights.

This year's forum will also welcome over 300 participants, including representatives from domestic and international energy authorities, power grid companies, generation groups, new energy enterprises, power construction units, local governments from key provinces, as well as hundreds of leading enterprises across the energy storage industrial chain, top research institutes, and financial and investment institutions. International representatives from Germany, Australia, and other mature markets, as well as from emerging markets such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Chile, will also attend. Together, all parties will explore the creation of a global energy storage ecosystem encompassing technology R&D, equipment manufacturing, project application, and capital linkage.

On this new journey, the parallel session aims to build consensus through high-level dialogue, strengthen global cooperation, and promote industrial chain integration, injecting new momentum into the global green and low-carbon transformation.

The Parallel Session on "High-quality Development of New Types of Energy Storage Accelerates Global Energy Transition" cordially invites your attention and participation. Let us work together to empower a greener future and build a sustainable new era of energy.
