On March 17, the Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF) 2026 expert seminar on the 4th sessions of the 14th NPC and the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC was held by the HQF Secretariat and the HQF Research Center in Shanghai. Yu Miaojie delivers his seminar

Yu pointed out that the Chinese economy has entered a stage of high-quality development, and it is important to accurately understand and implement the five new development concepts: taking innovation as the primary driving force, coordination as an inherent feature, green development as the universal model, opening-up as the essential path, and shared prosperity as the ultimate goal. He projected that China's total import and export volume will maintain growth in 2026, while the trade surplus will narrow slightly. Regarding economic and trade work, he put forward suggestions including diversifying export destinations, expanding import scale, developing distinctive trade in services, deepening investment cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, integrating foreign investment attraction with industrial agglomeration, and advancing regional economic and trade cooperation. During the interactive Q&A session, he answered questions from enterprises on topics such as the global expansion of trade in services.

Participating HQF member enterprises and CIIE exhibitors and buyers said that the seminar was helpful in further understanding the spirit of the Two Sessions, gaining a deeper understanding of the development opportunities presented by the 15th Five-Year Plan, and assisting enterprises in expanding openness and cooperation. They expressed the hope to continue participating in similar events.
