HQF Preview | The 9ᵗʰ HongQiao Forum Parallel Session: "Consumption Renewal: New Scenarios, New Supply, and New Growth " Release date: 2026-10-19    Source:CIIE

Consumption is a vital link in smoothing the domestic economic cycle and an important window for observing China's economic vitality and development quality. As residents' demands become increasingly diverse and the consumption structure continues to optimize, the consumer market is rapidly shifting from scale expansion to quality upgrading, and from goods-based consumption to a balanced focus on both goods and services. How to better match evolving consumer demand with higher-quality supply, unleash consumption potential through more diverse scenarios, and foster new growth spaces via new technologies and new business models has become a key proposition for understanding the future direction of China's consumer market.

The parallel session on "Consumption Renewal: New Scenarios, New Supply, and New Growth" of the 9ᵗʰ HongQiao Forum (HQF) will be held on the afternoon of November 6, 2026, in Hall C2 of Hall 4.2 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). The session is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and organized by Yicai Media Group. It will directly address core issues of expanding consumption. The forum invites guests from government, business, and academia to discuss how to release consumption potential from both the supply and demand sides amid continuous structural changes in consumption and accelerating technological evolution, promote the quality upgrade and scale expansion of the consumer market, and transform new demand, new supply, and new scenarios into new drivers for China's sustained economic growth.

This parallel session will hold multiple keynote speeches, and carry out discussions around topics such as "Digital Intelligence, Supply-Demand Matching and Desirable Consumption", "Potential and Driving Forces of China's Consumption Growth: Observations and Reflections from a Financial Perspective", "Inheritance and Innovation: Renewed Growth of the Consumption Industry", "How Finance Can Get Through the Key Link from 'New Scenarios' to 'New Growth'". A roundtable discussion, themed "New Demand, New Technologies, and New Scenarios Reshaping Consumption Growth" will bring together representatives from international consumer brands, traditional Chinese consumer brands, AI and digital technology companies, among others, to discuss consumer insights, brand innovation, technology application, and scenario operation.

Consumption is not only a critical pillar of economic growth but also connects industrial upgrading, technological innovation, and the people's aspirations for a better life. The 9ᵗʰ HongQiao Forum's parallel session "Consumption Renewal: New Scenarios, New Supply, and New Growth" looks forward to gathering wisdom from government, business, and academia to jointly identify new paths for the quality upgrade and scale expansion of consumption, fully unleash the potential of China's super-sized market, and better share the new opportunities of China's consumer market with global enterprises.
