My CIIE Story • Great Opportunity | Designing video game for import expo Release date: 2022-10-12    Source:China International Import Expo Bureau

Editor's Note: The fifth China International Import Expo will open in less than a month. In October, several participants of the CIIE will tell their stories themed around "great opportunity" to showcase the positive changes the expo has made to the world and how it has helped build a community with a shared future for mankind over the past five years.

This year's summer vacation was different as I participated in the making of a TV show called CIIE Classes Begin with my classmates. The show was broadcast on China Education Television on Sept 1 and I was so excited that day.

I first learned about the CIIE in 2019. For some time, my classmates were all talking about a technology that enables a human to move a car using just his mind. As it turned out, the technology, which was trending online at that time, made its China debut at the CIIE.

During the TV show, several guests were invited to tell their CIIE stories, and this fascinated me. I then learned that the expo has further opened up China's market and is aimed at promoting economic growth and international exchanges. The CIIE has also introduced advanced overseas products and technologies and in some ways aided the upgrading of domestic technologies. I was especially impressed at how imported innovative drugs have cured many Chinese patients.

We also visited the CIIE's venue, which is in the shape of a four-leaf clover, and found out that a large number of staff members have made great efforts behind the scenes to make the expo possible. A volunteer responsible for inspecting the venue told us she had to walk more than 30,000 steps every day during the expo.

Two of my classmates made handicrafts themed on the CIIE with clay and paper during the TV show. I also programmed a video game as a gift to the expo. Players in the game need to control Jinbao, the mascot of the CIIE, to catch falling items, including cars, pineapples, and robots, to score points. The game ends when the player earns 115 points.

I did lots of research to design the game and hope players can learn more about the CIIE through the game. For example, falling items in the game stand for the six exhibition areas of the CIIE and 115 is the opening date of the expo.

I hope to see more high-tech products at the CIIE and will study hard to help build a greater China with my knowledge and skills in the future.
