GM China president: CIIE a testing ground for future products Release date: 2021-04-14    Source:Multiple

General Motors Executive Vice-President and GM China President Julian Blissett praised the China International Import Expo in a recent interview, describing the event as an ideal platform for demonstrating the company's products and a great testing ground for its future innovations.

The US multinational automaker has attended the CIIE for three consecutive years. At last year's expo, the company signed a contract pledging its attendance at this year's event.

According to Blissett, the expo allows GM to engage with potential customers, which helps it effectively evaluate and alter its products for the future.

He also spoke highly of the business environment in China, noting that the Chinese government is "extremely business friendly and supportive" and has made great efforts to attract foreign investment, boost domestic consumption, and protect intellectual property.

Shanghai is one of the leading cities in helping develop the future of the car industry, he added.

Echoing China's efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, GM has also announced its plan to become carbon free by 2040.

"Carbon neutral is a very important principle from the protection of the environment point of view, and it's important to our company," said Blissett.
