Hongqiao forum calls for openness Release date: 2023-12-04    Source:CGTN

DESCRIPTION

The 6th Hongqiao International Economic Forum (HQF) "Press Release and International Symposium on World Openness Report 2023" was held in the afternoon of November 5 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). The latest World Openness Index was released on the symposium, signaling a continuation of the global trend of declining openness. How to reverse deglobalization and reduce intensified disparities in openness between countries, sectors and regions? In CGTN commentary program "The Hub with Wang Guan" premiered on November 9, we can hear insights from Chen Deming, China's former minister of Commerce; Li Junhua, UN under-secretary-general for economic and social affairs; Albert Muchanga, African Union commissioner for economic development, trade, tourism, industry and minerals; Bruno Chevot, president of Danone for China, North Asia and Oceania; Noel Quinn, group chief executive of HSBC Holdings plc; and Christopher Pissarides, Nobel Memorial Prize laureate in Economics.

Also, host Wang Guan looks at China's efforts to promote openness in a panel discussion with Huang Qifan, executive deputy director of the Academic Committee of China Institute for Innovation & Development Strategy (CIIDS), and former Mayor of Chongqing; Long Guoqiang, vice president of the Development Research Centre of China's State Council (DRC); and Zheng Yongnian, director of the Qianhai Institute for International Affairs.
