Argentina will showcase its food, culture and tourism resources at the country exhibition of the fifth China International Import Expo, and its companies will occupy more exhibition space at the business exhibition than before.

Argentine president Alberto Fernandez said in his video address at the opening ceremony of the fourth CIIE in 2021 that the expo is an important platform for global companies to communicate with one another. He added that the CIIE has helped many Argentine companies gain access to the Chinese market and learn more about the latest trends in sectors including food, technology, equipment and trade in services.

The president also noted that China has been the second largest trade partner of Argentina for more than 10 consecutive years and is also a strategic partner in investment and finance.

The foreign trade between China and Argentina grew from just $6 million in 1972 when the two sides established diplomatic relations to $17.8 billion in 2021.

The two countries have also signed 13 trade agreements on agricultural products over the past five years. A wide range of goods, including cherries, pears, apples, meat, honey and dried fruits, have been exported from Argentina to China.
