Shanghai Mayor Ying Yong met Eric Rondolat, global CEO of Signify and chairman of Signify Global Management Committee, and his delegation on Monday.

Ying said President Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the first China International Import Expo stressing that China will stick to the path of opening up to the outside world and promoting the economic globalization and trade liberalization.

The city is grateful for Signify’s participation in the CIIE and it welcomes the company to attend the next year’s expo and achieve even better results.

As a window of China’s opening-up and reforms, Shanghai is accelerating its pace in this regard and trying to optimize its business environment. The city will treat all companies alike, no matter whether they are foreign, private, or state-owned.

Shanghai welcomes Signify and other companies to increase their investment in the city and support the city’s construction and share business opportunities, Ying added.

Rondolat congratulated Shanghai on its successful hosting of the CIIE. China’s efforts in promoting economic globalization and trade liberalization are vitally important to today’s world.

Signify learned a lot from the CIIE and it has decided to attend the next year’s expo. Shanghai is a dynamic city and Signify is willing to apply more advanced technologies in Shanghai, Rondolat added.

Signify is the new company name of Philips Lighting. It changed name in May due to its strategic split-off. Signify’s second largest research and development center and its Greater China Operation Headquarters are both in Shanghai.
