E-commerce in the Digital Era
New Platform and New Vision(The Global E-Commerce Forum)
E-commerce is booming in the digital era. New technologies such as mobile internet, cloud computing and big data have been widely applied, and new models such as sharing economy are emerging. Innovative development of e-commerce have promoted win-win economic and trade cooperation worldwide, driven infrastructure modernization and promoted deep integration of production and circulation. E-commerce has provided new platforms for breaking new grounds in opening-up, and the “Silk Road E-commerce” has drawn up new vision for inclusive and sustainable economic and trade cooperation.

LIU Xin
Anchor, China Global Television Network
Liu Xin is a senior host at China Global Television Network (CGTN), the English arm of China’s national broadcaster. She joined CCTV’s English language service in 1997 and for over a decade, she has been one of the channel’s signature anchors. In 2011, she was posted to Geneva, Switzerland, to set up CCTV’s Geneva Bureau and served as bureau chief for nearly six years. While there, she covered a wide variety of important multilateral diplomacy stories including the Iran nuclear talks and the political negotiations on Syria. At the end of 2016, she moved back to Beijing to host a brand-new weeknight opinion program called The Point with Liu Xin on CGTN. In May 2019, she had a live TV debate with US Fox Business’ host Trish Regan, which made international headlines.
Liu Xin has won numerous awards including twice CCTV’s Top 10 Anchor of the Year award. She was nominated for Best Current Affairs Presenter by the Asian TV Awards in 2018. She speaks excellent English while being fluent in French and conversational in Turkish. She is married and has two children.
Arancha GONZÁLEZ
Executive Director, International Trade Centre
Arancha González, an expert in international trade issues with 20 years of experience, serves as Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC) since September 2013.
Ms. González, a Spanish national, has extensive knowledge about international trade and economics, coupled with broad experience in trade and development matters in the public and private sectors, as well as in management at multilateral organizations.
Before joining ITC, Ms. González served as Chief of Staff to World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Pascal Lamy from 2005 to 2013. During her tenure at the WTO, she played an active role in launching the WTO’s Aid for Trade initiative and served as Mr. Lamy’s representative at the G-20.
Prior to working at the WTO, Ms. González held several positions at the European Commission, conducting negotiations of trade agreements and assisting developing countries in trade-development efforts. Between 2002 and 2004, she was the European Union spokeswoman for trade and adviser to the European Union Trade Commissioner.
Ms. González began her career in the private sector as an associate in a German law firm advising companies on trade, competition and state-aid matters.
Ms. González holds a degree in law from the University of Navarra and a postgraduate degree in European Law from the University of Carlos III, Madrid.
She co-chairs the World Economic Forum (WEF) Agenda Council on the Future of Trade and Investment.
Besides her native Spanish, she speaks English, French, German and Italian.
LIU Liange
Chairman of the Board, Bank of China
Chairman of the Board of Directors since July 2019. Mr. Liu joined Bank of China in 2018. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors from October 2018 to July 2019 and President of Bank of China from August 2018 to June 2019. Mr. Liu served as Vice Chairman and President of the Export-Import Bank of China from July 2015 to June 2018. Mr. Liu served as Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of China from March 2007 to February 2015. He also served as Director of the African Export-Import Bank from September 2007 to February 2015, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Sino-Italian Mandarin Capital Partners from March 2009 to June 2015, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Regional Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility (Asia) from March 2014 to May 2015. Mr. Liu worked in the People’s Bank of China (“PBOC”) for many years, successively serving as Deputy Director-General of the International Department of the PBOC, President of the Fuzhou Central Sub-branch of the PBOC and Director of the Fujian Branch of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, Director General of the Anti-Money Laundering Bureau (the Security Bureau) of the PBOC. Mr. Liu has been serving as President of Shanghai RMB Trading Unit since October 2018. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited from December 2018 to July 2019 and has been serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of BOC Hong Kong (Holdings) Limited since July 2019. Mr. Liu graduated from the Graduate School of the People’s Bank of China with a Master’s Degree in Economics in 1987. He holds the title of Senior Economist.
Daniel ZHANG
Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Alibaba Group
Daniel Zhang became Executive Chairman of Alibaba Group in September 2019 and Chief Executive Officer in May 2015. He is a founding member of the Alibaba Partnership.
Over the past 12 years, Daniel has spearheaded innovation and growth across Alibaba. Soon after joining as Chief Financial Officer of Taobao Marketplace in 2007, Daniel took on the additional role of General Manager of Taobao Mall and became President of the B2C platform when it was rebranded as Tmall.com in 2011. As Chief Operating Officer of Alibaba Group, Daniel guided the company’s successful transition to a “mobile-first” ecosystem. He also led important strategic investments into Sun Art Retail Group, Lazada Group, Youku Tudou, Ele.me, Haier, Intime Retail and Kaola. He also led the establishment of logistic platform Cainiao Network and has served as its chairman since 2018.
Daniel was the mastermind behind Alibaba’s annual “11.11 Global Shopping Festival” on November 11, which has matured into the world’s biggest shopping day and laboratory for the future of retail. He is also the chief architect of Alibaba’s New Retail strategy and Alibaba Business Operating System, which aims to redefine the consumer retail landscape through innovation of new retail formats and help global businesses find success in digital transformation respectively.
Daniel has been a director of NYSE-listed Weibo since May 2014 and Chairman of HKSE-listed Sun Art Retail Group since January 2018. He is a member of the WEF International Business Council, and the Vice Co-Chair of the Board of the Consumer Goods Forum.
Before joining Alibaba, Daniel served as Chief Financial Officer of Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited, an online game developer and operator then listed on NASDAQ. Prior to that he was a senior manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers’Audit and Business Advisory Division in Shanghai.
Paul HUDSON
Chief Executive Officer, Sanofi
Paul Hudson joined Sanofi as CEO on September 1, 2019.
Previously CEO of Novartis Pharmaceuticals (2016-2019), where he was a member of the Executive Committee, Paul has an expansive international career in healthcare that spans the U.S., Japan and Europe.
Prior to Novartis, he worked for AstraZeneca, where he held several increasingly senior positions and most recently carried out the roles of president, AstraZeneca United States and executive vice president, North America.
He began his career in sales and marketing roles at GlaxoSmithKline UK and Sanofi- Synthélabo U.K.
Paul holds a degree in economics from Manchester Metropolitan University in the U.K. and last year his alma mater awarded him an honorary Doctor of Business Administration for his achievements in industry. He also holds a diploma in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, also in the U.K.

Jean-Paul AGON
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, L’Oréal
Born in France in 1956, Jean-Paul Agon joined L’Oréal in 1978 after graduating from HEC international business school.
After a brief stint in 1980 as a product manager for the Consumer Products Division in France, he began his international career in 1981, at 24 years old, becoming Managing Director of the Consumer Products subsidiary of L'Oréal in Greece.
In 1985, Mr. Agon was recalled to France to become the General Manager of L'Oréal Paris in France.
He launched the Studio Line range and relaunched the Plénitude and Elsève brands.
In 1989, then-CEO Lindsay Owen-Jones entrusted him with leading Biotherm, a brand of the Luxury Products Division, where he undertook a strategic repositioning.
In 1994, Jean-Paul Agon took over the management of L'Oréal in Germany, then the largest European market after France. He ran the subsidiary for three years.
In 1997, Lindsay Owen-Jones asked him to set-up and lead the L’Oréal Asia Zone, lending fresh impetus to these still-emerging markets.
In September 2001, Jean-Paul Agon was appointed President of L'Oréal's North American subsidiaries, the first market worldwide that represented about a quarter of the Group’s sales.
The Board of Directors appointed him as Chief Executive Officer in 2006, then as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 2011.
In 2009, he received the Ethical Resource Center’s Pace Leadership in Ethics Award for L’Oréal’s achievements in the area of business ethics, diversity, financial transparency and sustainable development.
He was 2015 Visionary of the Year (Women’s Wear Daily).
Jean-Paul Agon is a Director of Air Liquide, a member of the European Round Table of Industrialists and a member of the Board of Directors of the Consumer Goods Forum.
He is also an officer of the French Legion of Honour.
John MEACOCK
Global Chief Strategy Officer, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited
John Meacock is the Global Chief Strategy Officer for Deloitte and a member of Deloitte's Global Executive.
John is responsible for Strategy and Innovation across the Deloitte Global network. John’s role includes developing the Global Organization’s strategy, charting the course for the transformation of the organization to new business models and new ways of servicing clients and ensuring that Deloitte continues to be the World’s leading Professional Services Firm. As part of this, he oversees the organization’s response to Industry 4.0 and the changing environment due to competition, regulation and new technologies.
Prior to this role, he was the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) for Deloitte Australia and the Asia Pacific region. As CSO for the Asia Pacific region, John was responsible for developing plans for future growth and structure of the region.
Appointed as Deputy-Chairman of Deloitte’s Global Board in 2016, John’s role was to provide corporate governance advice, and to represent the Australian firm at the Global forum. John was also a member of the Global Board’s Composition and Risk Committees.
The youngest of four brothers, John was born in Bruce Rock, Western Australia. He has two children. John has an appreciation for art and is the former Independent Chairman for The Brett Whiteley Foundation.
Hongbin CAI
Dean and Chair of Economics, Faculty of Business and Economics of The University of Hong Kong
Professor Hongbin Cai received his B.A. in Mathematics from Wuhan University in 1988, his M.A. in Economics from Peking University in 1991, and his Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University in 1997. He is currently the Dean and Chair of Economics at Faculty of Business and Economics, The University of Hong Kong.
From 1997 to 2005, he taught at University of California, Los Angeles. From December 2010 to January 2017, he served as Dean of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University. He is a National Chang Jiang Scholar (awarded by Ministry of Education of China) and a National Outstanding Young Researcher (awarded by National Science Foundation of China). Professor Cai has published many academic papers in top international journals in economics and finance, in a wide range of areas including game theory, Chinese economy, industrial organization and corporate finance.
Professor Cai was elected as a Fellow of the Econometric Society. He was a member of the National People’s Congress, and a member of the Central Committee of China Democratic League and Vice Chairman of its Committee of Economic Affairs. He was the founding president of The Chinese Finance Association (TCFA, overseas). He serves as an Independent Director on the boards of several corporations including Sinopec Corp. and CCB International (Holdings) Limited.
