Frequently Asked Questions(FAQs)on Applications for Supporting Events of the 9th CIIE

Question 1: What are CIIE supporting events?

Answer: CIIE Supporting Events refer to events initiated by respective organizers that, upon review and approval by the CIIE, are included into the official CIIE Supporting Events schedule.

Question 2: What are the supporting event categories?

Answer:

(I) Policy Interpretation: Events such as in-depth policy interpretation, authoritative information release, and development situation analysis held by relevant government departments, industrial organizations, research institutions.

(II) Investment Promotion: Events such as business environment promotion, industrial project matchmaking, and investment cooperation negotiations held by local governments, industrial parks, investment promotion agencies.

(III) Matchmaking and Contract Signing: Events including procurement demand release, precise supply-demand docking and cooperation negotiations & sign-ups held by purchasing delegations, buyers, exhibitors, investment & exhibition partners, CIIE supporting organizations and industrial organizations.

(IV) Industry Seminar: Events such as industry trend releases, innovation achievement displays, and industrial chain collaboration held by relevant government departments, international organizations, industrial organizations, research institutions.

(V) Product Launches: Event such as new product launches, new technology promotion, and new service demonstrations held by various exhibitors, including Fortune Global 500 and industry-leading companies.

(VI) Other Events: Any other events besides the above categories, including cultural exhibitions and exchanges, and internal themed meetings.

For any of the above events that involve forums, the “Belt and Road” initiative, or foreign-related events, the host shall go through the required approval or filing procedures in accordance with applicable regulations.

Question 3: Who is eligible to apply?

Answer: Relevant central ministries and committees, government departments and relevant agencies of countries (regions) participating in the Country Exhibition, international organizations, CIIE trade missions and affiliated groups, exhibitors, buyers, central state-owned enterprises, CIIE supporting organizations, partners of buyer invitation & exhibitor recruitment, national industry associations, mainstream media institutions, etc.

Question 4: How can an organization apply to host supporting events?

Answer: Visit the Supporting Events page on the CIIE website, and click "Event Application" to view the application instructions. Applicants are advised to submit applications as early as possible. The application deadline is September 30, 2026 (UTC+8).

Question 5: Where can information on venue availability and related costs be found?

Answer: Visit the Supporting Events page on the CIIE website, and click "Download" to check venue lists, pricing and other relevant information. To view the Chinese version, please switch the webpage language setting to Chinese.

Question 6: Where can the official event preliminary schedule be found?

Answer: Once the preliminary schedule is released, it will be available on the Supporting Events page of the CIIE website. Please refer to the "Event Calendar" for details.

Question 7: What steps must the host take after the application is approved?

Answer:

(I) Sign the Contract: Promptly coordinate with the CIIE Bureau and NECC(Shanghai) regarding event organization details, and finalize the contract signing.

(II) Activate the Host Account: The host will receive an email from the CIIE Bureau containing information system username and account activation instructions. After activate the account, the host may log in via the "Host Login" entry under the Supporting Events page on the official CIIE website to fill in information and receive official notifications through the system.

(III) Apply for Entry Badges and Vehicle Permits: In accordance with CIIE regulations, the host shall submit applications for entry badges and vehicle permits via the information system in a timely manner. All submitted information will be reviewed through formal procedures, and permits will be issued accordingly. The host is responsible for collecting and distributing all permits to their respective personnel.

Entry Badges: Submit personal information of all participants (organizers, VIP guests, and attendees) to apply for Supporting Events Badges. Personnel conducting procurement and contract-signing activities during CIIE are encouraged to apply for Professional Visitor Badges instead. Each individual is entitled to only one badge, and the badge type shall be selected according to actual needs.

Vehicle Permits: Please apply through the system in compliance with relevant requirements.

(IV) Stay Updated on Official Notices: Organizers must regularly check the system for any new notifications or updates. 

(V) Execute the Event: Ensure your event complies with all relevant hosting regulations. Based on the event theme and agenda, confirm all invited guests, audiences and other participants well in advance, and complete all necessary preparations for successful event execution.

Question 8: Which type of entry badge should I apply for?

Answer: Supporting Events Badges are categorized into three types: organizers, VIP guests, and attendees. All personnel participating in supporting events must submit their personal information to the host of event. The host is responsible for applying to the CIIE for the necessary badges, then collect and distribute all permits to their respective personnel. Badge holders are granted access to the NECC(Shanghai) during the CIIE.

Personnel conducting procurement and contract-signing activities during the CIIE are encouraged to apply for Professional Visitor Badges via the "Professional Visitor Registration" section under the Enterprise Exhibition page on the CIIE website.

Each individual is entitled to only one badge, and the badge type shall be selected according to actual needs.
