General Arrangement

I. Activity Type

In line with the arrangement stated in the General Planning on the 6th China International Import Expo (CIIE), it will continue to conduct a number of events and activities on people-to-people exchange to give full play to CIIE's roles as a platform. Details are as follows.

(I) Exhibition Activity

The People-to-people Exchange of the 6th CIIE will set up a Hongqiao International Urban Reception Room Exhibition Area and four special exhibition zones respectively themed by Chinese Time-honored Brands, Intangible Cultural Heritages, National Pedestrian Streets, and Chinese Tourism, presenting plenty of diverse cultural content of each place, including cultural and economic exchanges, stories of the cities, development of industries, local traditions and customs, and many other featured subjects.

The CIIE will keep optimizing the exhibition themes, for example, by combining the Comprehensive Image Exhibition and the Hongqiao International Urban Reception Room. The combined exhibition area will be seated in a store with a story height of 8 meters and will be built as a window for each city and province's long-term publicity and to expand cooperation in economy and trade.

(II) Commonweal Performance

The 6th CIIE will establish a Chinese and Foreign Cultural Performance Area on the Central Square for cultural exchange and exhibition activities, showing the excellent humanistic and artistic features of China and other places around the world.

II. Workflow

The People-to-people Exchange activities shall be organized in a coordinated way in line with the ideas of their hosts, and they shall be assigned for respective collection of information and summarization of results for detailed implementation and optimized services.

(I) Main Hosts. The People-to-people Exchange activities of the 6th CIIE will mainly be held by overseas participating countries (and regions) and China's domestic provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.

(II) Application Procedure. The intentions of holding activities related to China’s provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps shall be gathered by the secretariat of the relevant trade mission and then submitted to the China International Import Expo Bureau. Overseas participating countries (and regions) are allowed to directly submit their intentions of holding activities to the China International Import Expo Bureau. The activity application is planned to end on June 30, 2023.

(III) Organization and Implementation. According to the schedules, the organizers shall contact the China International Import Expo Bureau and the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) for certificate handling, contract signing, and on-site service; they shall also steadily organize their activity’s implementation by detailing the planning and properly handle security matters like security declarations according to relevant laws and regulations.

III. Requirements

(I) Attach great importance to and seriously prepare for the activities. The sponsor, organizers, and responsible personnel of different regions shall well help build a new development pattern window, promote a high level of openness platform, continuously optimise the display of People-to-people Exchange activities and conduct the 6th CIIE People-to-people Exchange activities.

(II) Equip the activities with distinctive motifs and highlights. The activities to be held shall be closely related to their themes and arranged according to their frameworks. Relevant responsible personnel shall mobilize relevant organizations to actively participate in the activities and enhance the proactivity and enthusiasm of each organizer. Activity forms shall be enriched by virtue of new media and network platforms, through which the activities can also be effectively planned, organized, and publicized.
