I. Activity Type

In order to give an effective play to the function of supporting activities for serving China International Import Expo (CIIE), and reinforce the planning and guidance, the supporting activities of the third CIIE are categorized as follows:

(I) Policy Interpretations. Supporting activities in favor of various policy releases, authoritative analyses, profound interpretations, trend studies & judgments, and business forums carried out by national ministries and commissions, local governments, industry associations and research institutes to respond to the concerns of exhibitors and buyers, and promote the opening-up and cooperation.

(II) Matchmaking Signing. Supporting activities in favor of the demand release, supply-demand matchmaking and signing ceremony organized by trade missions, buyers, exhibitors, partners of buyer invitation & exhibitor recruitment, and support units of the CIIE to boost international procurement.

(III) New Product Exhibition. Supporting activities in favor of the release of new products, promotion of new technologies, display of new services and brand presentation held by exhibitors, especially enterprises among the Fortune Global 500 and industrial leaders to cultivate the CIIE into a platform of the debut of new products.

(IV) Investment Promotion. Supporting activities in favor of the introduction & presentation of the business environment, cooperation & exchange between provinces and prefectures, and industrial matchmaking symposium held by local governments, industrial parks and investment facilitators to drive the two-way investment and industrial cooperation at home and abroad.

(V) People-to-People Exchange.Supporting activities in favor of the exhibition of intangible cultural heritage held by local governments and China time-honored brand projects, National pedestrian street, China tourism and comprehensive image projects and the commonweal performances with regional or ethnic characteristics, and encourage other countries and regions to exhibit their intangible cultural heritage and people-to-people exchanges projects.

(VI) Research Briefing. Intellectual support shall also be given to the World Trade Organization and other international organizations, scientific research institutions, various think tanks and professional institutions to organize activities such as the release of annual reports, sharing of research results, scientific research theme forums, and government-industry-university-research dialogue in line with the theme of the CIIE.

(VII) Other Categories. In addition to the above categories of activities, the supporting activities also include special promotional events, fashion shows, professional competitions, on-site experience & interaction, dinners and cocktail parties, among others.

II. Work Process

The supporting activities shall be organized in a coordinated way in line with the ideas of their organizers, and they shall be assigned for respective collection of information and summarization of results for unified scheduling, detailed implementation, and optimized services.

(I) Main Organizers. The organizers are primarily made up of the main constituents bidding for supporting activities, including members of the organizing committee, participating countries (or regions) in the Country Exhibition, international organizations, exhibition organizers, exhibitors, provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government, municipalities with independent planning status, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, buyers, partners of buyer invitation & exhibitor recruitment, CIIE support units, and the mainstream media.

(II) Application Procedures. The intentions of holding activities related to China’s provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, municipalities with independent planning status, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as the ones of holding activities related to their affiliated buyers, shall be collected by the secretariat of the relevant trade mission and then submitted to the China International Import and Exhibition Bureau. The intentions for activities to be held by members of the organizing committee, countries (or regions) of the Country Exhibition, international organizations, exhibition organizers, participating enterprises, central enterprises, partners of buyer invitation & exhibitor recruitment, supporting units and the mainstream media shall be directly submitted to the China International Import Expo Bureau. The activity application is planned to end on June 30, 2020.

(III) Scheduled Briefings. The China International Import Expo Bureau shall play a leading role, and—in consideration of the positioning of the third CIIE, the industry characteristics of exhibition areas, the main contents of the activities, the nature of the organizers and the venue resources—preliminarily arrange the timing and venue of all the collected applications; and pre-scheduled time shall be released in batches.

(IV) Organization and Implementation. According to the schedules, the organizers shall contact the China International Import Expo Bureau and National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) for certificate handling, contract signing, and venue service; they shall also steadily organize their activity’s implementation by detailing the planning and properly handle security matters like security declarations according to the relevant laws and regulations.

III. Requirements

(I) Composition of Activities. To align with international first-class expositions and accord with the facilitating role of the supporting activities, we will stick to the requirements on having a coherent theme, a prominent focus, high quality, high standards and safety and controllability, and we will consider venue resources, keeping the activities within certain limits. Priority will be given to activities such as policy interpretations, matchmaking signing, new product exhibition, investment promotion, people-to-people exchanges, and research briefings, which will together account for at least 80% of all activities. Activities like general meetings and forums will be taken into consideration. In principle, the relevant organizations will not be allowed to take advantage of the occasion to hold commercial profit-seeking activities.

(II) Supervision and Management. The requirements for epidemic prevention and control shall be strictly implemented. In accordance with the principle that the "organizer is responsible", the responsibility for supporting activities shall be confirmed. The organizers shall intensify the preliminary review and field monitoring of the content, concepts, statements and conduct of the supporting activities, after which a well-developed contingency plan shall be formulated; the organizers shall also report to the public security departments in line with the relevant laws and regulations to eliminate potential safety hazards.
