Answers to Hot Issues for Supporting Activities of the Third China International Import Expo

Question 1: What kinds of activities will be held during the third CIIE?

A: In a bid to effectively play the function of supporting activities for serving the CIIE, and reinforce the planning and guidance, the supporting activities of the third CIIE are classified as follows: the first category centers on policy interpretations, including policy release, authoritative analyses, in-depth interpretations, trend analyses and judgment, industrial forums and other activities organized by national ministries and commissions, local governments, industrial organizations and research institutions; the second category is for matchmaking and contracting, which includes the publication of demand, supply and demand matchmaking, signing ceremonies, etc. launched by trade missions, buyers, exhibitors, partners of buyer invitation & exhibitor recruitment and supporters for the CIIE; the third category refers to exhibition of new products, including new product releases, the promotion of new technologies, new service displays, brand promotion and other forms of promotion organized by exhibitors, especially Fortune Global 500 and industrial leaders; the fourth category is for investment promotion, which includes introduction and promotion of the business environment, cooperation and exchange between provinces and prefectures and industrial matchmaking meetings held by local governments, industrial parks and investment promotion agencies; the fifth category is for people-to-people exchange, which include intangible cultural heritage exhibition, China time-honored brand projects, National pedestrian street, China tourism and comprehensive image projects and commonweal performances with regional or ethnic characteristics held by local governments and the encouraged intangible cultural heritage exhibition and people-to-people exchanges projects by other countries and regions; the sixth category is for research result release, which includes the release of the annual reports, the sharing of research achievements, scientific research forums and official-industry-university-research dialogues in line with the theme of the CIIE held by international organizations like World Trade Organization (WTO), scientific research institutions, think tanks and professional agencies; the seventh category includes other forms: in addition to the aforementioned activities, the supporting activities shall be designed with other forms, such as special promotion meetings, fashion shows, professional competitions, on-site experiences & interactions, banquets and wine parties.

Question 2: Who are the main organizers for these activities?

A: The organizers are primarily made up of the main constituents bidding for supporting activities, including members of the organizing committee, participating countries (or regions) in the Country Exhibition, international organizations, exhibition organizers, exhibitors, provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government, municipalities with independent planning status, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, key buyers, CIIE support units, and the mainstream media.

Question 3: How does an organization apply to hold one of these activities?

A: Please refer to the "Activity Application" under the "Activities" column on the official website of the China International Import Expo.

Q4: Where can details on supporting activities be found?

A: According to the plan, the preliminary schedules of supporting activities will be released in batches, starting from late July 2020. At that time, please refer to the "Agenda" under the "Activities" on the CIIE's website to inquire.

Question 5: What do organizers need to do?

A: The organizers of activities that have been confirmed must carry out the following work.

(I) Confirm the organization. Consult in a timely manner with the China International Import Expo Bureau and the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) on matters such as contract signing and the details of the CIIE.

(II) Organize the activities. Invite participants, including guests and visitors, according to the activity themes and content, and organize the activities well.

(III) Submit personnel information. As for the on-site activities to be held in the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the participants (organizers, guests, visitors, etc.) who are not yet registered for admission to the third CIIE (NECC) need to submit the personal information in a timely manner, so as to carry out the issuance of certificates (see Question 7). The personnel who have procurement or contract-signing tasks are advised to apply for the certificate for buyers in order to be included in the transaction statistics of the CIIE.

Methods for submitting information: Hosts should collect and summarize the relevant personnel information in a timely manner as required. After entering an account name and password as provided by the China International Import Expo Bureau, hosts can log in to the supporting activities information system of the third CIIE (see Question 6) to fill in the personnel information.

(IV) Issue certificates. After personnel information is submitted, the organizing committee of the CIIE will conduct a review and print certificates according to the relevant procedures. After certificates are made, they will be handed over to the organizers by the host of the activity.

(V) Strengthen the prevention and control of the epidemic and enhance the investigation and monitoring of events. According to the principle that "hosts are responsible", hosts shall strictly implement compliance requirements of the epidemic prevention, strengthen the advance investigation and on-site monitoring of content as well as opinions and behavior of supporting activities, and formulate and improve contingency plans.

Question 6: How do organizers of these activities held inside the National Exhibition and Convention Center use the activities information system?

A: After their applications are confirmed, organizers may use the information system.

(I) Obtain a username and password. Once their applications are confirmed, organizers will receive an email notification from the China International Import Expo Bureau that includes the login website, a unique account name and password, and other information. After completing the setting, the organizers can click the "Sign in" under the "Activities" on the CIIE's official website to use the supporting activities information system.

(II) Submit personnel information. As for the on-site activities to be held in the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), the participants (organizers, guests, visitors, etc.) who are not yet registered for admission to the third CIIE (NECC) need to submit the personal information in a timely manner, so as to carry out the issuance of certificates (see Question 7). The personnel who have procurement or contract-signing tasks are advised to apply for the certificate for buyers in order to be included in the transaction statistics of the CIIE.

(III) Submit vehicle information. The organizers shall submit the vehicle license information online in accordance with the application requirements of the system and the designated area.

Q7: What certificates should participants of the supporting activities handle?

A: Participants include organizers, guests, visitors, etc. There are two types of venues; one is inside the China International Import Expo Venue (the National Exhibition and Convention Center) and the other is outside the China International Import Expo Venue.

(I) Activities held inside the venue.

First, the following is about the certificates for entering the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). In principle, each person can only apply for one certificate for admission to the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). If attendees already have the certificates of exhibitors, buyers or special guests, or other certificates that enable them to enter the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), then there is no need to apply for supporting activity certificates. Attendees who do not yet have admission certificates for entering the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) on the corresponding date of their activity shall submit their personal information to the organizers as required. The organizers shall submit this information to the organizing committee and apply for certificates. After the certificates are made, the organizers shall issue the relevant personnel with their certificates so that they can enter the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).

Second, the following is about the certificates to enter specific venues. The organizer of a specific supporting activity shall be responsible for deciding whether there shall be specific certificates and how to make and issue said certificates.

(I) Activities held outside the venue.

As approved by the organizer, participants are qualified for activities held outside of the venue (the NECC). Whether special certificates are required shall be decided by the organizer.

Question 8: Do the supporting activities to be held outside the venue need to be declared in advance?

A: If the activity intention is included in the scope of supporting activities of the third CIIE, it must be declared as required. For details, please refer to the "Activity Application" under the "Activities" on the CIIE's official website. After the application for an activity is successful, if the usage of the CIIE's intellectual property rights such as the logo, mascot, and others is needed, please email (scanned copy) to the Investment Promotion Office of China International Import Expo Bureau (zsc@ciie.org) to apply for authorization according to procedures.
