I. Activity Category

The supporting activities of the fifth CIIE are categorized as follows:

(I) Policy Interpretations. Supporting activities in favor of various policy releases, authoritative analyses, in-depth interpretations, and trend analyses and judgment, carried out by members of organizing committees, national ministries and commissions, local governments, industrial organizations, and research institutions to promote the opening up and cooperation.

(II) Matchmaking and Contracting. Supporting activities in favor of demand release, supply-demand matchmaking and signing ceremonies organized by trade missions, buyers, exhibitors, support units of the CIIE, industrial organizations, and partners of buyer invitation & exhibitor recruitment to boost international procurement.

(III) New Product Exhibition. Exhibitors, especially Fortune Global 500 and industrial leaders, will organize the promotion of new technologies, and new service displays to continuously build a platform of "CIIE Release"and enhance the CIIE's international influence.

(IV) Investment Promotion. Supporting activities in favor of the introduction and presentation of the business environment, cooperation and exchange between provinces and prefectures, and industrial matchmaking meetings held by local governments, industrial parks and investment promotion agencies to drive the two-way investment and industrial cooperation at home and abroad.

(V) Cultural Exchange. This includes intangible cultural heritage exhibition, Chinatime-honored brands, pedestrian streets, and tourism and commonweal performances with regional or ethnic characteristics organized by local governments and encouraged promotion and intangible cultural heritage exhibition by other countries and regions for the promotion of people-to-people exchanges.

(VI) Research Result Release. This includes activities such as the release of reports, sharing of research results, scientific research forums, and government - industry - university - research dialogue in line with the theme of the CIIE organized by international organizations, scientific research institutions, various think tanks, and professional institutions to promote innovation and exchange.

(VII) Other Categories. In addition to the aforementioned activities, the supporting activities shall be designed with other forms, such as industry annual meetings, customer appreciation meetings, and professional competitions.

II. Work Procedures and Division of Labor

The supporting activities shall be organized in a coordinated way in line with the ideas of their hosts, and they shall be conducted with principles of respective collection of information, unified scheduling, detailed implementation, and optimized services.

(I) Main Hosts. The hosts are primarily made up of the main constituents bidding for supporting activities, including members of the organizing committee, international organizations, participating countries (or regions) in the Country Exhibition, exhibitors, provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government, municipalities with independent planning status, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and their related authorities, buyers, CIIE support units, industrial organizations, mainstream media, and partners of buyer invitation & exhibitor recruitment.

(II) Application Procedures. The intentions of holding activities related to China's provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government, municipalities with independent planning status, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and their related authorities, as well as the ones of holding activities related to their affiliated buyers, shall be collected by the secretariat of the relevant trade mission and then submitted to the China International Import and Exhibition Bureau. The intentions of holding activities related to members of the organizing committee, international organizations, countries (or regions) of the Country Exhibition, exhibitors, members of the trade mission of central enterprises, members of the trade mission of the National Health Commission, CIIE support units, national industrial organizations, mainstream media, and partners of buyer invitation & exhibitor recruitment shall be directly submitted to the China International Import Expo Bureau. The activity application will end on July 31, 2022.

(III) Scheduled Briefings. The China International Import Expo Bureau will take the lead in scheduling the time and venue of the intended activity application based on the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, the positioning of the CIIE, the characteristics of industries involved, the nature of activity hosts, the main contents of activities, venue resources, etc. The pre-scheduled time will be announced in batches, and the official schedule time will be announced before the fifth CIIE.

(IV) Organization and Implementation. According to the schedules, the hosts shall contact the China International Import Expo Bureau and National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) for communication and registration, certificate handling, contract signing, venue service, fees settlement, etc.; they shall also steadily organize their activity's implementation by detailing the planning.

III. Relevant Requirements

(I) Composition of Activities. The total number of activities should be controlled at a certain scale. Priority will be given to activities such as policy interpretations, matchmaking and contracting, product exhibition, investment promotion, cultural exchanges, and research result release. In principle, supporting activities of the fifth CIIE will be held in venues of National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) or InterContinental Shanghai Hongqiao NECC.

(II) Supervision and Management. According to the principle that "hosts are responsible", hosts shall implement the responsibility of the main body of epidemic prevention and control, formulate special plans for epidemic prevention and control, and complete all kinds of prevention and control work well; the relevant parties shall strictly implement the requirements of epidemic prevention and control in accordance with the division of work. The hosts shall intensify the preliminary review and field monitoring of the content and personnel's statements and conduct of supporting activities, after which a well-developed contingency plan shall be formulated; the hosts shall also report to the public security departments to eliminate potential safety hazards.
